SUMMER BODY OR HEALTHY BODY: Are they mutually exclusive?
Yay! The long-awaited summer is here. Very exciting, no? It’s that time of the year where we get to comfortably show some skin due to the hot weather.
While some of us are just happy that we get to put on those clothes we’ve been saving for summer, the rest of us are concerned about getting a “summer body” or not having a summer body. But we seldom bother about whether our bodies are healthy until a major crisis occurs.

What is a “summer body?”
A summer body, as the name indicates, is the “ideal” body for summer. Now, this summer body is different for different people. For some, it’s losing belly fat; for others, it’s building muscles and abs. For some, it’s getting firmer thighs; for others, it’s losing those rolls and cellulite. And for lots of other people, it’s becoming slimmer.
The problem with wanting a summer body is that we work to achieve this body in a short period of time, causing us to take unhealthy measures like starving, taking unhealthy substances, undergoing unhealthy invasive procedures, etc., just to get it. A lot of us are ashamed of our bodies, which causes us to damn the consequences just so we can “fit in” amongst friends and strangers.
How do I get a healthy summer body then?
You may be rolling your eyes already, thinking that whatever may happen, you’re getting that summer body. Well, no need to go all “we try or we die.”
You can achieve that healthy summer body by doing the following:
- Loving your body. Yes, you have heard this since you were born. Well, it doesn’t lose its relevance. You must love your body because it serves you. It houses that special person you are on the inside. Loving your body prevents you from doing harmful things to it. It also causes you to see that your body is good enough.
- Let your “summer body” be your “regular body.” This means that you shouldn’t pay attention to your body during the summer alone. You should care for your body all year round. This prevents you from engaging in quick schemes that could cause you harm. You have the whole year to get the best out of your body.
- Eat healthy foods in healthy portions. You can talk with a nutritionist to make a healthy food plan for you. Do not starve yourself or completely eliminate carbohydrates from your diet. Eat a well-balanced diet and don’t forget your fruits.
- Exercise. This doesn’t have to be anything so difficult. It could be as easy as dancing, jogging or even taking brisk walks.
- Go for regular check-ups.
So, the answer to the question is “No.” Summer body and healthy body aren’t mutually exclusive. We can definitely have both. Take steps to achieve a healthy body today. Learn to love your current body and also the changes it undergoes.
